Early Career Researcher Competition

Terms and Conditions

  • This competition is open to early career researchers (ECRs), defined as individuals currently undertaking or having completed a postgraduate research degree (e.g., PhD, MPhil, MRes, MSc) within the past five years.
  • Successful applicants must be able to attend and present at the Yakult Science Study Day in-person on Wednesday 12th November from 9am-5pm at The British Library, 96 Euston Road, London, NW1 2DB. An online option is not available.
  • Successful applicants will be informed via email by Sunday 14th September, 10pm BST.
  • Winners will receive a free speaking slot and ticket to attend the 2025 Yakult Science Study Day which includes access to all presentations, lunch and break refreshments. Travel and/or accommodation costs are not covered. Winners will remain personally responsible for all travel/ accommodation arrangements and expenditure.
  • Offer is open to all UK and Ireland residents who fulfil the application criteria except employees and their families of Yakult UK Ltd and its subsidiary companies, their agencies and anyone professionally connected with this activity.
  • Applicants must be aged 18 years or over to enter.
  • Applicants may only submit one application.
  • The promoter reserves the right to withdraw this offer at any time and without notice.
  • The decision regarding acceptance or rejection will be made by Yakult Science staff, taking into account the quality of the abstract submissions.
  • By participating, you agree that upon winning the 2025 Yakult Science Study Day ECR competition, Yakult UK Ltd may use your name, image, job title and country of residence to promote the Study Day through any Yakult marketing communication.
  • All applications will be reviewed; successful applications will be verified and the Judges’ decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  • Your data will be used to process the application. Any application data will only be stored for up to three months after the deadline as per our Privacy Policy and will not be used for any other purpose. Please see our Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions for more information.
